"Oversized" Sturgeon
White Sturgeon are the largest freshwater fish in North America. And it just so
happens that the Columbia River is home to the world's largest population of
these incredible game fish. For the sport fisherman, there are two distinct
Sturgeon fisheries available on the Columbia. The first is a "keeper" fishery,
in which fish between the size of 42- and 60-inches are available for harvest.
The second is the "oversized" fishery, in which the large adults present an
incredible catch-and-release experience.
KAPTUR'S GUIDE SERVICE specializes in the "oversized" fishery. Within this
world-class freshwater big game fishery, expect to land Sturgeon from 7- to
12-feet in length, weighing 250- to 600-pounds! The sportfishing record was
caught in the Columbia River and weighed-in at 900-pounds. This is truly big boy
fishing at its finest.
